eSports: Deutsche Telekom acquires 25% of SK Gaming (GER)

Deutsche Telekom, a German telecommunications operator, has acquired a 25% stake of the eSports organisation SK Gaming, according to the German team based in Cologne, on 17/12/2019. Deutsche Telekom is the first telecommunications operator to become a shareholder of an eSports club.

Partner and main shirt sponsor of the eSports team since 2018 (agreement on 14/06/2018), Deutsche Telekom joins the car manufacturer Daimler AG, the football club 1. FC Köln (Bundesliga) and the CEO of the organisation Alexander T. Müller as a shareholder of SK Gaming, each of whom has a 25% share in the company.

"Our acquisition underlines the importance and value that Deutsche Telekom places on eSports and gaming. Our networks, products and services provide the best possible environment for the eSports and gaming community. SK Gaming is the perfect partner with whom we can cooperate to shape the market into the future," said Hiro Kishi, head of sports sponsorship at Deutsche Telekom.
