LaLiga: Javier Tebas "provisionally proclaimed" president, final decision expected on 23/12/2019

Javier Tebas is "provisionally proclaimed president of LaLiga," announced the Spanish Professional Football League on 18/12/2019, after the meeting of the electoral committee which verified that his candidacy for a new term had "been presented on time and in the forms, respecting the statutes and regulations".

Javier Tebas resigned from his post as president of LaLiga 10 months before the end of his current mandate (October 2020) "in order to open an electoral process for the presidency", he explained on Twitter on 02/12/2019, adding: "I will be a candidate and I hope to gain confidence for another four years".

Tebas has received support from 34 out of 42 professional clubs (first two Spanish divisions). Among those who do not support him are Real Madrid CF, FC Barcelona and Athletic Club Bilbao.
