2020-2024 Ligue 1 TV rights: Mediapro acquires the last 2 lots (multiplex, play-offs, magazines)

The Chinese-Spanish audiovisual group Mediapro acquired the last two remaining lots (5 and 7) of the call for tenders for the domestic broadcasting rights to Ligue 1, over the 2020-2024 period, following discussions for a mutual agreement, announced the LFP on 20/12/2019.

Lot 5 includes the exclusive broadcasting rights:
• Three multiplexes each season (Matchdays 19, 37 and 38).
• Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 promotion and relegation play-offs.
• Trophée des Champions (French Super Cup).

Lot 7:
• Monday to Thursday evening magazine programmes.

These two lots were awarded for a total amount of €18m per season, according to French media L'Équipe, bringing the total domestic broadcasting rights to Ligue 1 to €1.171bn per season over the 2020-2024 cycle (+61% compared to the €726.5m per season in the 2016-2020 cycle). This amount goes to €1.235bn per season with the rights to Ligue 2 rights included over the same period, (€64m / season), and to €1.315bn with international rights included (around €80m per season).
