The gross annual salary of Chinese players in the Chinese Super League players may not exceed CNY10m ($1.45m) from the 2020 season, with the net salary of a foreign player capped at €3m (including bonuses, image rights and benefits), according to the Chinese Football Association on 31/12/2019.

The CFA has introduced a series of new regulations that clubs in the CSL will have to comply with starting from next season, which will begin in February 2020. In terms of salary caps, players called up to the Chinese national team will be subject to a superior annual gross salary cap of CNY12m ($1.74m).

"All contracts signed by players will now have to be validated by the CFA," according to the Chinese Football Association, which has also decided to change its policy of quotas for foreign players. Each CSL club will now be able to register up to seven foreign players during the same season, with a maximum of six in the squad at any one time. For each match, no more than 5 foreign players can be registered on the match sheet and only 4 will be allowed to play.
