Sky Bet Championship: East Street Investments buys Charlton Athletic FC from Roland Duchâtelet (BEL)

"Charlton Athletic FC (Sky Bet Championship) can confirm that the purchase of the club by East Street Investments has been completed," announced the English club on 02/01/2019. The value of the agreement has been reported at over £50m (€58.7m) by British media.

East Street Investments, which belongs to the Abu Dhabi-based corporation Panorama Magic General Contracting LLC, will takeover the club from the Belgian entrepreneur Roland Duchâtelet who became the owner of the club for £14m (approximately €17m at the time) on 03/01/2014.

Duchâtelet was previously the owner of Royal Standard de Liège (Belgian First Division A) from 2011 to 2015, Sint-Truidense VV (Belgian First Division A), from 2004 to 2017, AD Alcorcón (LaLiga SmartBank), from 2014 to 2019, and is currently the owner of the German club FC Carl Zeiss Jena (3.Liga) and Hungarian club Újpest FC (OTP Bank Liga, Hungarian first division).
