"We must do everything to support the broadcasters by producing the best football show possible. It is a desire and a programme that involves everyone: the managers, the technical staff, the players, the referees, but also the spectators. The broadcasters have made great financial efforts, we must help them," said Bernard Caïazzo, chairman of AS Saint-Etienne (Ligue 1 Conforama and president of the Première Ligue (union of primarily Ligue 1 clubs), in the newsletter of this club presidents' union published on 06/01/2020.

The domestic broadcasting rights to Ligue 1 for the 2020-2024 cycle were allocated for a total amount of €1.172bn per season, to Mediapro, beIN Sports (which sold its rights under sublicense to Canal+) and Free (see details below), which represents an increase of 61% compared to the €726.5m in the current cycle (2016-2020) paid by Canal+ and beIN Sports. Those to Ligue 2 were allocated to Mediapro and beIN Sports (see details below) for €64m per season, almost three times the current amount paid by Canal+ and beIN Sports (€22m).
