UEFA: Michel Platini updates the European Commission on progress of financial fair play

Michel Platini, president of UEFA (Union of European Football Associations), provided an update on financial fair play and its implementation to Joaquin Almunia, vice-president of the European Commission in Brussels (BEL), on 03/04/2014.

The president of UEFA, "explained the main points of UEFA's financial fair play regulations, describing them as legitimate, opportune and proportional measures which were designed to create more stability in football finances and safeguard European club football's future well-being," said UEFA.

"Mr Platini had requested the political support of the European Commission for this crucial stage in the process, the implementation of the regulations, and offered to personally keep the Commission informed of developments," said the European Football Confederation.

Of the 237 European clubs monitored in 2013-14 for their financial stability, additional information was requested from 76 (32.1%)," announced UEFA on 03/03/2014.
