United States: ESPN acquires Copa del Rey TV rights for three seasons (2019-2022)

ESPN has acquired the broadcasting rights to the Copa del Rey (Spanish Cup) for the United States for three seasons from 2019-20, according to the RFEF on 10/01/2020. The announcement came ahead of the entry of LaLiga Santander clubs into the second round of the 2019-20 Copa Del Rey, on 11 and 12/01/2020.

The group will broadcast up to 65 matches per season (including the final) in English and Spanish on the OTT sports platform ESPN+, which was launched on 12/04/2018.

"ESPN+ will offer the broadcasting of around 2,000 football matches per season, including the Emirates FA Cup, the Carabao Cup, Serie A TIM, the Bundesliga (from 2020-21), the Eredivise and Major League Soccer (MLS)," said the RFEF.
