Africa: next Total Africa Cup of Nations to be held in Cameroon "from 09/01 to 06/02/2021" (CAF)

"It (the 2021 AFCON) will be held in Cameroon from 09/01 to 06/02/2021 (instead of June-July 2021)," announced CAF, at the end of the meeting of the organising committee of the Total Africa Cup of Nations 2021, in Yaoundé (CAM) on 15/01/2020.

"The main item on the agenda of the meeting - broadened to include representatives of stakeholders and the Cameroonian authorities - was the review of the competition period, at the request of the Cameroonian side, in the face of unfavourable weather conditions during the period initially set. After listening to the various arguments and viewpoints - and in particular from the Cameroonian meteorological authorities, the coaches and players - the representatives of the AFCON organising committee, which received the mandate from CAF executive committee to take the decision, has granted this request," explained the Confederation of African Football.

This change must be validated by the CAF Executive Committee, whose next meeting is scheduled for 06/02/2020, alongside the Africa Futsal Cup of Nations (28/01-07/02/2020 in Laayoune, Western Sahara).
