UEFA: Top 5 European Leagues comprise 75% of the total revenue of the 52 top divisions in Europe

The revenue generated by the Top 5 European leagues (Premier League, LaLiga Santander, Bundesliga, Serie A TIM and Ligue 1 Conforama), amounting to €15.7bn, accounts for 75% of the total revenue of the 52 top divisions of the federations under UEFA's jurisdiction in 2017-18. This is one of the most striking findings of the 11^th edition of the "European Club Footballing Landscape report" published by UEFA on 16/01/2020.

Further proof of the increasing concentration of revenues: "preliminary reporting from 2019 indicates that, for the first time, the top 30 clubs will be responsible for more than half of all top division club revenues (49% in 2017-18)," said UEFA, in its annual benchmarking report on club licensing within European football.

In terms of expenditure, the wage bill of the 98 clubs in the European Top 5 increased by over €1bn, accounting for 88% of total salary growth. "These clubs were responsible for 85% of gross transfer spending and 75% of top division transfer earnings," added UEFA.
