"The 2018-19 season is further evidence of the increasingly strong correlation between economic performance (level of turnover), sporting performance (titles) and financial performance (net profit). The business models put in place combined with stricter European regulations (in line with UEFA's 70% staff costs/operating revenue ratio) have enabled the champions to generate comfortable margins," according to the European Champions Report 2020 (available to download), the fourth edition of the annual survey conducted by the international network of audit and consultancy firms KPMG, published on 15/01/2020.

The report "reviews and compares some of the most relevant business performance indicators of the champions of Europe's eight most prominent leagues in the 2018-19 season - AFC Ajax (Eredivisie), FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander), FC Bayern Munich (Bundesliga), Galatasaray SK (Spor Toto Süper Lig), Juventus FC (Serie A TIM), Manchester City FC (Premier League), Paris Saint-Germain FC (Ligue 1 Conforama) and SL Benfica (Liga NOS)," added KPMG.
