Formula 1: Canal+ extends its broadcasting rights in France until 2022

The pay-TV group Canal+ has extended its Formula 1 broadcasting rights until 2022, on 21/01/2020. Canal+ held these rights until 2020 (acquired in May 2017) and has been broadcasting the competition since 2013.

Canal+ posted an average audience of 757,000 viewers for 13 (of the 21) Grand Prix of the 2019 Formula 1 season on the "main time-slot in the early afternoon (starting at 14:10 or 15:10 CET)," indicated the pay-TV channel on 04/12/2019.

This figure represented a subscriber audience share of 30.2%, a record since Canal+ began broadcasting the competition (2013 season). The previous record was set last season (2018).
