World Rugby: B. Beaumont teams up with B. Laporte (FFR) to run for a second term as chairman in 2020

Bill Beaumont (ENG) and Bernard Laporte (FRA), president of the French Rugby Federation, are respectively candidates for the chair and the vice-chair of World Rugby, announced the FFR on 24/01/2020.

"For Bill Beaumont, it will be a question of obtaining a second mandate of four years, after having been elected to this function in 2016, during the elections which will be organized in May 2020. The World Rugby Council will elect the chairman, vice-chairman and members of the Executive Committee by secret ballot by simple majority," explained the French Rugby Federation.

"The two leaders' manifesto will focus on five key areas:
• Continue governance reform.
• Strengthen international competitions with a particular focus on the Tier 2 countries.
• Ensure the financial viability of the game.
• Continue the development of women's rugby.
• Improve the dialogue with the players by focusing in particular on the safety of the game," added the FFR.
