LaLiga Santander: Mediapro, which claimed €1.43m from FC Barcelona, ordered to pay the club €1.25m

The Barcelona Court of First Instance has ordered the Spanish audiovisual group Mediapro to pay €1.25m to FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander) "in respect of various outstanding payments and settlements which the club claimed in its counterclaim," filed by FC Barcelona in a dispute with Mediapro, announced the Catalan club on 17/01/2020.

The dispute related to the transfer of the management of advertising at the Camp Nou (99,354 capacity) from FC Barcelona to Mediapro in February 2016, in exchange for a €1.6m payment. Barça subsequently decided to break the contract, following a procedure deemed illegal by Mediapro, which consequently sued the club in 2018, claiming €1.43m for "failure to comply with the contract for the transfer of advertising rights."

An appeal was rejected by the Barcelona Court of First Instance, which ruled that the contract had ended legally, according to the terms set out in the agreement signed between the two entities.
