"As a mark of respect and remembrance for those who lost their lives as a result of the Hillsborough stadium disaster in April 1989, all FA Cup, Premier League, Football League and Football Conference matches taking place on the weekend of 11-14/04/2014 will kick-off seven minutes later than originally scheduled," announced the FA (Football Association) on 21/03/2014.

The FA hopes to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the tragedy of Hillsborough in Sheffield, where 96 people were killed in a mass stampede during the semi-final of the FA Cup between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest at Hillsborough Stadium on 15/04/1989.

The kick-off times of matches from 11/04 to 14/04/2014 will actually shift six minutes, the duration of the match before the disaster took place, after one minute of silence, offsetting the match start time by seven minutes.

The Premier League and FA Cup, on 11/04 to 04/14/2014:

  • Premier League (34th matchday)
    • 12/04/2014 (4:07 p.m.): Sunderland - Everton
    • 12/04/2014 (4:07 p.m.): West Bromwich Albion - Tottenham
    • 12/04/2014 (4:07 p.m.): Southampton - Cardiff City
