1989 Hillsborough tragedy: kick-offs delayed by 7 minutes in England from 11 to 14/04/2014

"As a mark of respect and remembrance for those who lost their lives as a result of the Hillsborough stadium disaster in April 1989, all FA Cup, Premier League, Football League and Football Conference matches taking place on the weekend of 11-14/04/2014 will kick-off seven minutes later than originally scheduled," announced the FA (Football Association) on 21/03/2014.

The FA hopes to commemorate the 25^th anniversary of the tragedy of Hillsborough in Sheffield, where 96 people were killed in a mass stampede during the semi-final of the FA Cup between Liverpool and Nottingham Forest at Hillsborough Stadium on 15/04/1989.

The kick-off times of matches from 11/04 to 14/04/2014 will actually shift six minutes, the duration of the match before the disaster took place, after one minute of silence, offsetting the match start time by seven minutes.
