Liga: Real Sociedad present project to renovate Anoeta stadium, increase capacity to 42,300 steats

Real Sociedad (Liga BBVA) presented their renovation project for Anoeta stadium, on 08/04/2014. The venue, which belongs to the city, is currently undergoing a public tender to select its future operator. The club is officially a candidate and presented a restructuring plan.

The San Sebastian stadium, inaugurated in 1993, has 32,000 seats. The club wants to expand its capacity to 42,300 seats. The project has a budget of €40m. The renovation would be completed in four phases. The club estimated that the construction period would last up to 24 months with the project hopefully starting in the summer of 2015. This sets a possible inauguration date for August 2017.

The club will fund the project to the tune of €20m, the Basque Government will provide €10m and the Basque Kutxabank would provide €10m via a naming rights agreement that is "in advanced talks" said leaders of Real Sociedad.
