Bundesliga 2021-2025 TV rights : "Football must continue to be accessible" emphasize German clubs

"On the one hand, clubs are expecting and demanding more and more money from television contracts, and on the other hand, football must continue to be accessible to as many people as possible. Keep in mind that times are changing and that streaming platforms are an essential part of media usage, especially for the younger generation," stated Oliver Mintzlaff, CEO of RB Leipzig, about the upcoming tender for the domestic broadcasting rights to the Bundesliga (2021-2025 cycle), to the German specialized website meedia.de, which questioned 13 leaders of German clubs on this subject on 28/01/2020 (see below). This tender could be launched in February 2020, according to German media.

"I am convinced that the DFL and Christian Seifert are keeping an eye on current developments and that matches will also be broadcast on free television as part of the new TV rights agreement. The increase in revenue must not result in, at the same time, the loss of many football fans who can not buy three subscriptions to follow the Bundesliga," added Oliver Mintzlaff.
