United States: ESPN+ (OTT) has 7.6 million subscribers (+117% since the launch of Disney+)

ESPN+, the sports OTT platform launched on 12/04/2018 in the United States at a monthly price of $4.99 (4.50 euros), has 7.6 million subscribers, announced Bob Iger, CEO of The Walt Disney Company, parent company of the ESPN, on 04/02/2020.

This figure has increased by 117% since November 2019 and the launch of the OTT platform Disney+ on 12/11/2019. Disney launched a joint offer with its three Disney, ESPN and Hulu platforms on the same day (see below).

In addition to the launch of the joint offer with Disney+, the UFC fight between Conor McGregor - Donald Cerrone (Saturday 18/01/2020) drew one million additional subscribers, but possibly in the short term, explained Bob Iger.

The number of subscribers to ESPN+ exceeds the forecasts of Disney, which had announced to target between 8 and 12 million subscribers by 2024, on 04/11/2019. Same for the Disney+ platform which has 28.3 million subscribers less than three months after its launch.
