Nike launch (very) limited series of Mercurial Vapor shoes in honour of Cristiano Ronaldo

The American sportswear company, Nike, launched a limited edition (100 available) pair of CR7 Mercurial Vapor IX shoes "to celebrate the remarkable 2013-14 season of Cristiano Ronaldo," on 08/04/2014.

"Cristiano Ronaldo is such an exceptional player, we wanted to reward his performance this season with a unique model to honour this incredible success," said Denis Dekovic, responsible for shoe design at Nike

100 pairs, numbered 1 to 100 and signed by the Portuguese striker of Real Madrid were put on sale at a price of €310 on the website of the brand on 08/03/2014. All were sold in less than a minute.

• During the 2013-14 season, Cristiano Ronaldo surpassed 200 goals with Real Madrid and won the Ballon d'Or 2013.
• This special design of the CR7 Mercurial Vapor IX model is predominantly white - "a nod to the affinity of Cristiano Ronaldo for white shoes" - and has a golden sole.
• Cristiano Ronaldo will wear the boots during the final of the Spanish Cup between Real Madrid and FC Barcelona on 16/04/2014.
