"We like fair competition but piracy is not. Illicit consumption of sports competitions frequently accounts for around 20% of the overall audience for an event," said Caroline Guenneteau, legal director of beIN Sports France, during the Think Football conference on 05/02/2020.

Caroline Guenneteau spoke as part of the final disussion on French professional football alongside Cédric Roussel, an French MP, about the fight against the piracy of sports broadcasts.

"Piracy is an eminently political subject because, behind all this, we are talking about sports funding and public policies (in particular via the Buffet tax law, in which 5% of the amount received by the leagues for the marketing of TV broadcast of the competitions goes to amateur sport causes)," said Cédric Roussel.
