Betting sponsors and VAR are "here to stay," according to Premier League chief executive Richard Masters, who who spoke to the British newspaper The Guardian on 04/02/2020. Richard Masters said that the Premier League will resist attempts to ban clubs from promoting sports betting operators on their kits as part of the government's promised review of gambling laws.

"Sport and gambling have a long association. The Premier League does not have a commercial gambling partner. It's up to our clubs whether they want to have their own gambling relationships. I think this area does need stronger governance, particularly to protect the vulnerable. I don't think the answer coming out at the end of it should be that football clubs shouldn't have shirts sponsored by gambling companies, but we will certainly cooperate with the review," said the Premier League's CEO.
