FIFA/FIFPro: creation of a global fund for the protection of players' salaries ($16m over 2020-2022)

"FIFA and FIFPro, the World Players' Union, have reached an agreement to establish the FIFA Fund for Football Players (FIFA FFP), which aims to provide financial support to players who have not been paid and have no chance of duly receiving the wages agreed with their clubs," announced the two organisations chaired by Gianni Infantino (ITA-SUI) and Philippe Piat (FRA) respectively, on 11/02/2020.

The International Federation has allocated $16m (€14.6m) to the fund until 2022:
• $3m (€2.7m) in 2020.
• $4m (€3.6m) in 2021.
• $4m (€3.6m) in 2022.
• "Plus a further $5m (€4.5m) for the retroactive protection of players' salaries for the period between July 2015 - June 2020."

The new scheme will be implemented from 01/07/2020, according to FIFA and FIFpro.
