Formula 1: the Chinese Grand Prix (17 - 19/04/2020) postponed because of the coronavirus epidemic

"The 2020 Formula 1 Chinese Grand Prix, which was to take place in Shanghai (CHN) from 17 to 19/04/2020, has been postponed due to the new coronavirus epidemic," announced Formula One Group on 12/02/2020. "Due to continuing health concerns, the FIA and Formula One Group have taken these measures to ensure the health and safety of staff, championship participants and spectators, which remains a major concern," stated the body.

The cause is a coronavirus that appeared in Wuhan (China) in December 2019, which has caused more than 44,000 cases of contamination and caused the death of more than 1,100 people as of 12/02/2020. This epidemic has already resulted in postponements or cancellations in cascade of sporting events (see below).

"The FIA and Formula 1 continue to work closely with the teams, the promoter of the race (Juss Sports Group), the Federation of Motor Sports and Motorcycles of the People's Republic of China (CAMF) and local authorities to follow the situation.
