Pro League (Belgium): TV rights awarded to Eleven Sports, 2 clubs refuse collective sale

The general assembly of the Pro League has awarded, "by a two-thirds majority", the domestic media rights tp the Jupiler Pro League from the 2020-21 season to the pay-TV group Eleven Sports, and approved "by a large majority" the methods to the distribution of income between the clubs, announced the Pro League on 12/02/2020. These rights were allocated for €103m per season according to Belgian media.

"KAA Gent (on the basis of the voting results) and Royal Antwerp FC (on the basis of the distribution methods) have decided not to participate in the collective sale of rights. The Pro League is examining how the process will continue," explains the authority, which had announced on 07/02/2020 that these rights had not been allocated for lack of agreement on the distribution methods between the clubs.

The G5 clubs (FC Bruges, RSC Anderlecht, Standard de Liège, KAA Gent and Racing Genk) asked that an amount near to €80m of the current cycle come back entirely to them, while the small clubs get at least 20%, according to Belgian media on 07/02/2020.
