LaLiga Santander: Socios.com (blockchain), global partner of FC Barcelona from 2019-20

Socios.com, a blockchain cryptocurrency platform owned by the Maltese companies ChiliZ and Mediarex Sports & Entertainment, has become a global partner of FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander) from 2019-20, according to the club on 13/02/2020. Socios.com/ChiliZ has the status of global partner, the third level in the sponsorship hierarchy of the Catalan club.

"The agreement will enable fans to interact with Barça in an innovative way through Chiliz' fan voting and rewards platform Socios.com, where they will be able to participate in different surveys and polls about the everyday activities of the club using digital assets called 'Barça Fan Tokens'," explained FC Barcelona, which is entering into its first partnership with a company specialised in cryptocurrency. "Barça Fan Tokens (known as $BAR within the Socios.com app) will be available in Q2 2020. 40 million Barça Fan Tokens will be made available, with each of them costing €2 at the initial point of sale (the ChiliZ platform)," added the club.
