FC Barcelona: an economic impact of €1.19bn (1.46% of GDP) for the city of Barcelona in 2018-19

"FC Barcelona (LaLiga Santander) created economic activity in the city of Barcelona (ESP) which has translated into €1.191bn of the GDP of the city (1.46%), during the 2018-19 season," said the club, referring to data from a report by the international network of audit and consulting firms PriceWaterhouseCoopers (PwC) published on 12/02/2020.

Between June 2018 and July 2019, the activities of FC Barcelona and its foundation also directly or indirectly generated almost 19,500 jobs as well as tax revenues of €366m, with an impact on numerous sectors such as tourism, hotels, transport and the media, according to the PwC report.

"A significant part of the creation of value comes from the tourists that the club attracts to the city, which translates into 1.43 million overnight stats for the city of Barcelona," said the club.

"In terms of GDP, Barça contributes €1.394bn and helped to create 23,531 jobs" (FC Barcelona)
