Switzerland: FIFA withdraws complaint, N. Al-Khelaïfi no longer accused of corruption

"FIFA informed the OAG at the end of January 2020 in writing that it had reached an unspecified 'amicable agreement' with (Nasser) Al-Khelaifi, and that as a consequence it was withdrawing its criminal complaint (from 2016) against Al-Khelaifi and also partially against (Jerome) Valcke," announced the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Swiss Confederation, in Bern (SUI) on 20/02/2020.

"As the bribery of private individuals in this specific case was an offence prosecuted only on complaint, the withdrawal of the complaint meant that a procedural requirement for the prosecution of these offences was no longer met," explained the Swiss judicial authority.

If Nasser Al-Khelaïfi is no longer accused of corruption, but simply of "instigation to unfair management" (see reaction below), Jérôme Valcke remains accused of passive corruption, with a third defendant (not named) being accused of active bribery.
