England: Bitcoin Foundation opens office in London

Bitcoin Foundation will open an office in London "in the coming weeks", said Jon Matonis, CEO of the non-profit organisation, on 08/04/2014. The Bitcoin Foundation was established in 2012 and is based in Washington DC (USA). The London office is intended to promote the brand in Europe and prove that businesses can gain "notoriety" by adopting the "crypto-currency".

Bitcoin is a virtual currency created in 2009 that allows users to be completely anonymous in their banking. It is completely decentralised, not subject to tax or regulation by governments, and can be used worldwide.

Bitcoin technology is unlikely to become mainstream within the next "two to three years", but widespread adoption is not necessary for the its success, according to Jon Matonis speaking to the website Marketing Week at the Festival Of Media Global, held in Rome from 06 to 08/04/2014.
