The former player Davor Suker was re-elected president of HNF, the Croatian Football Federation, to serve a term until 2018, the Federation announced on 14/04/2014. The 48 representatives of the HNF assembly voted unanimously in favour.

The former Croatian striker has headed the Federation since 05/07/2012. He succeeded Vlatko Markovic, who resigned following the elimination of Croatia from the Euro 2012.

"The excellent results of the Croatian national football team would not be possible without the work done at the Croatian football organisation," said Mircea Sandu, a member of the executive committee of UEFA (Union of European Football Associations).

In the elections, executive president Damir Vrbanovic was also confirmed for his post until 2018.

  • The national team of Croatia will play the opening match of the 2014 World Cup against Brazil in Sao Paulo Arena on 12/06/2014.
  • Its two other opponents in Group A are Cameroon (18/06/2014) and Mexico (23/06/2014).
