France: sports sector equals 448,000 jobs, including 333,000 (74.3%) in 112,000 companies (BPCE)

The sports sector in France, in 2018, had 360,000 associations (115,000 jobs) with a total budget of €13.1bn and 112,000 companies generating €77.7bn in turnover and 333,000 jobs, indicated the French banking group BPCE in a study entitled "The sports sector takes its mark", published on 28/02/2020.

"€90bn (448,000 jobs) would thus be an estimate of the current economic dimension of sport in France. However, making the sum of amounts from associations and companies is complicated and the study also does not take into account sponsorship and TV rights. This figure nevertheless makes it possible to measure the extent of the sports sector in France," explained Alain Tourdjman, director of studies within the BPCE group.

"The holding in Paris of the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games is perceived very positively by the actors in the sport economy in France.
