Bundesliga TV rights (2021-2025): tender to be launched in mid-March, results in May 2020

The tender for the domestic broadcasting rights to the Bundesliga, 2.Bundesliga and the DFL-Supercup (2021-2025 cycle) is still subject to the control of the Bundeskartellamt (the equivalent of the German Competition Authority), and is expected to be launched in mid-March 2020 for a result in May 2020, according to the DFL on 03/03/2020.

This DFL rights tender for Germany will for the first time cover Austria, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg and South Tyrol (a predominantly German-speaking province in northeast Italy).

The call for tenders consists of seven lots for live matches and seven lots for highlights and video clips. The seven lots for live matches include:

A: Pay-TV: 166 Bundesliga matches (35 multiplexes) on Saturday at 15:30 or Tuesday/Wednesday at 20:30
B: Pay-TV: 170 individual Bundesliga matches on Saturday at 15:30 or Tuesday/Wednesday at 18:30 or 20:30 (plus play-off matches)
C: Pay-TV: 33 Bundesliga matches on Saturday at 18:30 (plus DFL-Supercup)
D: Pay-TV: 106 Bundesliga matches on Fridays at 20:30, Sundays at 15:30, 17:30 and 19:30.
