Coronavirus: LFP amends pre-match protocol to avoid hand shaking

"In order to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus and to promote 'barrier gestures', the LFP Competition Committee has modified the pre-game protocol. This new measure, which aims to avoid handshakes, will apply until further notice in LFP competitions," announced the French Professional Football League on 04/03/2020.

• "The players and the central referee will hold player mascot children by the shoulder during the entrance of the teams.
• After lining up, the players will disperse on the pitch.
• Handshakes between coaches, referees and delegates will be eliminated," said the LFP.

"The LFP board of directors met on 04/03/2020 to discuss the Coronavirus situation. In permanent contact with the public authorities (Ministry of the Interior, Ministry of Sports, Ministry of Health), the LFP will work on a case-by-case basis in consultation with the prefectures, the clubs concerned and the broadcasters, for each situation that may arise, scrupulously respecting the government's recommendations and applying the decisions of the local authorities," added the League.
