eSports: Rewe (retail) and RheinEnergie (energy) become sponsors of 1. FC Köln's eSports team

Rewe, a German retail group, and RheinEnergie, a German energy supplier, have extended their partnership with 1. FC Köln (Bundesliga) and become partners of the German club's eSports team from 2019-20. Rewe and RheinEnergie are major partners (first level) of 1. FC Köln.

The two brands based in Cologne (GER) have become shirt sponsors of the eSports team: Rewe is the main shirt sponsor, while RheinEnergie is the left pocket sponsor. Rewe, main shirt sponsor of 1. FC Köln since 2007-08, is paying the club an estimated €7m per year over the 2018-2021 period. RheinEnergie has held the naming rights for the club's stadium, the RheinEnergieStadion (50,000 capacity), since 2006. 1. FC Köln, the owner of the stadium, has been receiving €3m per year from the German company since 2018-2024.

FC Köln is a shareholder (25%) of the German eSports organisation SK Gaming (based in Cologne), which provides the club with FIFA (video game published by EA Sports) players for the eSports competition VBL Club Championship (organised by the DFB).
