Study: $7.2bn in revenue for sports broadcasters in 11 key Asia-Pacific markets in 2024

The revenue of sports broadcasters in 11 markets in the Asia-Pacific region (China, Japan, India, Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines) will grow by an average of 7% per year over the 2019-2024 period, to reach $7.2bn (€6.3bn), according to a study entitled "Asia Pacific Sports Media 2020" published by the Hong Kong consultancy firm Media Partners Asia on 03/03/2020.

Revenue from sports TV channels in these 11 markets will remain "relatively stable", $4.3bn (€3.8bn) in 2024, while revenue related to OTT in sports will grow on average by 22% per year to reach $2.9bn (€2.6bn) in 2024, according to the study.

The cost of sports rights in the markets studied will increase by 3.8% in average annual growth rate between 2019 and 2014, reaching $6.6bn (€5.8bn) by 2024, according to the study.
