Covid-19: LaLiga Santander and LaLiga SmartBank games postponed for "at least the next 2 matchdays"

"Given the circumstances that are coming to light this morning, referring to the quarantine established in Real Madrid CF (LaLiga Santander) and the possible cases in players from other clubs, LaLiga considers it appropriate to continue to the next phase of the protocol of action against Covid-19. As a result, it agrees to postpone at least the next two matchdays," announced the Spanish League on 12/03/2020.

The decision follows Real Madrid CF's announcement of a player from the club's basketball team being positively tested for Covid-19, prompting the club to quarantine its professional basketball and football teams as they share the same training centre. LaLiga Santander games on Matchdays 28 and 29 and Matchdays 32 and 33 of LaLiga SmartBank have been postponed, with the outbreak of the Coronavirus (Covid-19) having already affected more than 2,900 people in Spain and left 80 people dead (as of 12/03/2020).
