Covid-19: suspension of national football competitions in Portugal from 13/03/2020

The Federaçao Portuguesa de Futebol is suspending its national football and futsal competitions from 13/03/2020 "for an undetermined period of time," announced the FPF on 12/01/2020, which is taking measures to deal with the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic that has already affected more than 75 people in Portugal (as of 12/03/2020).

"The situation caused by Covid-19 will continue to be monitored by the emergency group which will be able to review - extending or reducing - the measures now implemented. The emergency group was created by the president of the FPF (Fernando Soares Gomes da Silva) to monitor the impact of Covid-19 on our competitions," said the Federation.

Initially, the FTF had announced that all professional football matches (Liga NOS and Ledman LigaPro) in Portugal were to be played behind closed doors from 10/03/2020 "until further notice".
