New York City FC, which début in MLS (Major League Soccer, the North American professional soccer league) in 2015, will play their home games in Yankee Stadium (New York, USA) for their first three seasons in the league, i.e. until 2018, the American newspaper The New York Times reported on 14/04/2014. The paper said that the announcement should be formalised within a week by the club.

Yankee Stadium (capacity 50,287, all seated) is the stadium of the New York Yankees franchise (MLB, North American professional baseball league), which also owns 25% of the future MLS franchise. The remaining 75% is held by Manchester City (Premier League).

In announcing the creation of New York City FC on 21/05/2013, the American press reported on discussions between the Yankees, Man City, the mayor's office and community leaders about obtaining a site in the New York metropolitan area for a stadium for the football team by 2017 or 2018. Franchise leaders had promised to unveil plans for a future stadium by 30/01/2014, according to the New York Times, but no such announcement has been made.
