"Following the cancellation of the season-opening Australian Grand Prix and the postponement of the races in China, Bahrain and Vietnam, Formula 1 and governing body the FIA have said they now 'expect' the 2020 season to begin at the end of May," reported Formula One Group on 13/03/2020, which is making preparations for the coronavirus epidemic.

The first Grand Prix (GP) of the 2020 season could therefore be that of the Netherlands (Formula 1 Heineken Dutch Grand Prix 2020), scheduled to take place in Zandvoort from 01 to 03/05/2020. "Formula One, the FIA and the race promoters have taken these decisions to ensure the health and safety of staff, championship participants and fans, which remains our main concern," said the body.

The Formula One Rolex Australian Grand Prix 2020, originally scheduled for Melbourne from 13 to 15/03/2020, was canceled on 12/03/2020, when a member of the McLaren Racing F1 Team tested positive at Covid-19. Finally, the Formula One Heineken China Grand Prix 2020 which was to take place from 17 to 19/04/2020, has been postponed to a later date.
