Covid-19 / Germany: "We are living in a time of extreme uncertainty" (Christian Seifert, DFL)

"If UEFA decides to postpone Euro 2020 (meeting scheduled on Tuesday 17/03/2020), the options we have to end the season (Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga) will become clearer. It is not possible to give more precise details at the moment. We are living in a time of extreme uncertainty," stated Christian Seifert, CEO of the DFL after the general assembly of the German Professional League held in Frankfurt (GER) on 16/03/2020.

The General Assembly voted to postpone Matchday 27 of the Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga, which was scheduled for the weekend of 21-22/03/2020. With the last weekend of March being reserved for national teams, the first two German divisions are therefore suspended at least until 03/04/2020, but the DFL does not anticipate that matches can be played during the first weekend of April (04-05/04/2020).

"During the last week of March, a decision will be taken on how to proceed with regard to the schedule. A new general assembly of the DFL is planned during which UEFA's decision may be taken into account on a possible postponement of Euro 2020," specified the German League.
