Covid-19: a decline in turnover for 80% of sports/leisure companies (Union Sport & Cycle)

80% of companies in the sports, leisure, cycle and mobility sector reported a drop in turnover between 01 and 13/03/2020. A third of them suffered a drop of more than 20%. On average, the drop is 14%: these results come from the business survey carried out between 12 and 15/03/2020 by Union Sport & Cycle, which communicated these results on 16/03/2020.

"The impact of the Coronavirus is already having a strong impact on sports, leisure, cycling and mobility businesses. Even before the measures to close down 'non-essential public areas' announced by Prime Minister Édouard Philippe on Saturday 14/03/2020, these businesses have experienced a sharp drop in activity and fear major disruptions to come," said Union Sport & Cycle.

These companies fear major disruptions in the future, according to the study:
• 83% of companies (manufacturers) are experiencing or expecting supply difficulties (see table below).
• 80% of companies (84% of retail and 94% of leisure traders) fear cash flow difficulties.
