Covid-19: Athletic Bilbao lights up San Mamés in support of healthcare professionals

Athletic Club Bilbao (LaLiga Santander) lit up the Estadio San Mamés (53,332 capacity) on the evening of 14/03/2020 "to thank the health personnel and the rest of the professionals who are working for the common good in the Coronavirus crisis," said the Basque club on 15/03/2020.

The message "thank you for taking care of us" was projected in Basque and Spanish on the exterior facade of the club's stadium at 22:00 CET, at the same time as thousands of Spaniards from all over the country gathered at their windows to applaud the health workers who are mobilised against the Covid-19 pandemic. The outbreak has already reached 13,716 people and caused 533 deaths in Spain, the fourth most affected country in the world as of 18/03/2020.
