Covid-19: contingency plan signed by UEFA, ECA, European Leagues and FIFPro Europe on 17/03/2020

"The final tournament of the Euro 2020, which was set to take place from 12/06 to 12/07/2020, will be postponed to 11/06 to 11/07/2021. This will help to ensure that the Euro 2020 can be a great celebration of football for all the supporters across the continent," announced UEFA, ECA, European Leagues and FIFPro Europe in a document entitled "Resolution of the European football family on a coordinated response to the impact of the Covid-19 on competitions," on 17/03/2020.

UEFA held a video conference with the ECA, European Leagues and FIFPro, and then with the 55 member national member associations, before convening its executive committee on Tuesday 17/03/2020. The aim of the conference was to respond to the situation created by the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, which had already affected 190,000 people and caused more than 7,500 deaths worldwide as of 17/03/2020, leading to the suspension of most European national leagues.
