"Some problems that seemed important to us yesterday appear small today and everything has really been put into perspective. The cancellation of all football games in the coming weeks and months will make a major contribution to stopping the spread of the disease. We are fighting for our freedom from a virus," said Fritz Keller, president of the German Football Association (DFB) on 18/03/2020.

Angela Merkel, Chancellor of Germany, described the Coronavirus pandemic as "the biggest challenge since the second world war" on 18/03/2020. Covid-19 has infected 13,682 people and caused 33 deaths in the country.

Fritz Keller, president of the DFB, Oliver Bierhoff, director of the national teams and academy, and national team coach Joachim Low spoke about the health crisis at a video press conference: "There are many things to think about. We should treat each other with more respect. We should use the break to slow down, rethink how we treat each other," said Joachim Löw, who has been coaching the German national team since 12/07/2006.
