FC Schalke 04 (Bundesliga) posted a turnover of €275m for the financial year 2019 (from 01/01 to 31/12/2019), down 22% from the club's record financial year 2018 (€350.4m), according to the German club's annual report (document available to download), published on 18/03/2020.

The decrease in revenue for the Gelsenkirchen (North Rhine-Westphalia, GER) club is mainly due to its non-participation in the Champions League, which caused a drop in audiovisual rights revenue from €147.8m in 2018 to €108.8m in 2019. Capital gains on player transfers also fell sharply and amounted to €15.7m (compared to €45.6m in 2018). FC Schalke's other sources of revenue, however, remained stable, which enabled the club to record the second highest turnover figure in its history.

FC Schalke 04 posted a net loss of €26.1m, compared to a net profit of €40.5m the previous year. The club has forecast a further deficit for the financial year 2020, as well as a decline in turnover to €241m.
