Covid-19: Deportivo Alavés (LaLiga Santander) to wear shirts in tribute to health workers

Players from Deportivo Alavés (LaLiga Santander) and Saski Baskonia (basketball, Liga ACB) will wear a shirts/jerseys paying tribute to health workers for their first matches back in competition, announced Deportivo Alavés on 16/03/2020, in response to the Coronavirus pandemic which is currently raging throughout Europe and paralysing the vast majority of competitions.

"The special purple shirts will display 'OSI Araba' on the front and back, which includes the entire Red Sanitaria de Vitoria y Álava (hospital and ambulance network) which, headed by the Hospital de Txagorritxu, is fighting the virus," said Deportivo Alavés. The epidemic has already reached more than 14,700 people and killed 638 in Spain, the fourth most affected country in the world as of 19/03/2020.

In order to implement an action protocol to combat the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic, LaLiga has decided to postpone at least the next two Matchdays of LaLiga Santander (Matchdays 28 and 29) and LaLiga SmartBank (Matchdays 32 and 33), at least until 04/04/2020.
