"Meeting by telephone on Monday 23/03/2020, the bureau of the board of directors of the LFP studied the sporting and economic consequences of the health crisis. Faced with an unprecedented situation, French professional football has clearly shown its unity and solidarity," said the Professional Football League on 23/03/2020, while the coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19) has already affected nearly 20,000 people in France to date and has caused 860 deaths.

This demonstration of "unity and solidarity" is the official response to the creation, three days earlier, of a steering committee which held its first meeting on Monday 23/03/2020 at 14:00 CET: "With the agreement of Didier Quillot, CEO of the LFP, and on the initiative of Première Ligue, a crisis steering committee was created on Friday (20/03/2020).
