Covid-19: RFEF and LaLiga agree to suspend football in Spain until further notice

"The monitoring committee provided for in the current RFEF-LaLiga coordination agreement agrees the suspension of professional football competitions until the competent authorities of the Government of Spain and the General State Administration consider that they can be resumed and this does not pose any risk to health," announced the Spanish Federation and Professional League on 23/03/2020.

In order to fight against the Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic which caused 2,696 deaths in Spain as of 24/03/2020, LaLiga had previously decided that it was postponing "at least the next two matchdays of LaLiga Santander (Matchdays 28 and 29) and LaLiga SmartBank (Matchdays 32 and 33), meaning a suspension of competitions at least until 05/04/2020," on 12/03/2020.
