Covid-19/UK: Watford lends Vicarage Road stadium to the National Health Service

Watford FC (Premier League) will be lending its stadium Vicarage Road (21,000 capacity) in Watford, Hertfordshire (ENG) to National Health Service (NHS) medical staff to use "to host NHS staff induction courses, urgent meeting spaces, warehousing needs, childcare facilities and more as the Coronavirus (Covid-19) outbreak puts further strain on all those working within the healthcare industry," said the club on 24/03/2020.

"We need to forget football right now and concentrate on doing all we can to support the NHS and, in particular, Watford General Hospital. Our proximity as a football club next door to a hospital puts us in a great position to offer help and we're keen to do whatever we possibly can to support NHS staff and their families," said Scott Duxbury, chairman and CEO of Watford FC.

The Coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic, which began in China in December 2019, has already infected 8,077 people in the UK and killed 422 (as of 25/03/2020). The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced a three-week ban on gatherings of more than two people in the UK on 23/03/2020.
