Media: Mediaset increases its stake in the German group ProsiebenSat.1 by 4.25% to 19.35%

The free-TV group Mediaset España has acquired 4.25% of the capital (4.38% of the voting rights) of ProsiebenSat.1, bringing the Italian parent company Mediaset's stake in the German audiovisual group to 19.35% (20.1% of the voting rights), announced Mediaset on 23/03/2020.

Mediaset had already announced the acquisition of a 9.6% stake (9.9% of the voting rights) in ProSiebenSat.1 on 29/05/2019. "The aim of this alliance is to develop economies of scale (cost advantages that businesses obtain due to their scale of operation) which are crucial for the future of European television. The rapid process of globalisation is such that European media companies like us need to join forces if we want to continue to compete, or even simply resist possible attacks from global giants. It is in this spirit of collaboration and common vision that Mediaset has decided to invest in ProSiebenSat.1.
