Covid-19: Bayern, Dortmund, Leverkusen and Leipzig offer €20m to struggling German clubs

"In a show of solidarity, the German Champions League participants from Borrusia Dortmund, FC Bayern Munich, RB Leipzig and Bayer 04 Leverkusen have made a pledge of €20m. The aim of the initiative is to offer financial support to clubs in the Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga who are struggling due to the Coronavirus crisis," announced the DFL on 26/03/2020. The Covid-19 pandemic has already affected more than 41,000 people in Germany and left more than 200 dead as of 26/03/2020.

The four participants in the 2019-20 UEFA Champions League have agreed to surrender their next domestic TV rights payments from the German League for the 2020-21 season, amounting to a total of €12.5m. The remaining €7.5m will come from their own reserves.

"This initiative shows that solidarity is more than just lip service in the Bundesliga and 2.Bundesliga.
